Mark D'Acquisto comes out of a year long captain hiatus to make yet another mark on the B-League. One would think that Point Guard Captain D'Acquisto would have been out of touch with the happenings of last year's league since he did not have a team or participate. But that wasn't the case as he takes last year's semi-sleeper big man Chris Nowak with his first round pick. Could that be because he has former captain Pat Belding on his squad feeding him insider information? Either way, Nowak will be an excellent anchor to the D'Acquisto front line as his 6'4" 225lb frame should take up good space down low just as it did as a key member to the Team Gabriel Championship team last season. New comer Mike Folk at 6'7" should be able to clog up the middle even more for this bigger than average squad.
Playing all over the floor will be Graham "The Matrix" Coover. This 6'3" wing-post-guard can do it all averaging 10 points, 7 boards, 3.4 assists and 2 steals last season. Another do-it-all type player, veteran Brian Early, will be able to give Captain Mark excellent play wherever he's needed. This versatile lefty can hit from the perimeter or take you on the block. Chip in Andres Franklin's hustle plays and this team has a lethal combination of point forwards that will give D'Acquisto plenty of options.
Gabe Rosenberg will provide some solid scoring from the Shooting Guard position as one of the most accurate 3 point shooting B-Leaguers at 53%. If only he put up more than 3 attempts per game he would have ran away with this category winning a sweatshirt at the season ending banquet. Gabe's quickness gets him to a lot of loose ball rebounds as his tenacity will complement Captain Mark's leadership well.
Newcomers Joe Gettelman and Ken Kearns put up solid stats in the NCAA league this summer. And like any fantasy sports player knows, the sleepers are what can win you your league. Team D'Acquisto will be a squad to be reckoned with.
OUTLOOK:
At first glance, Captain D'Acquisto has drafted a contender for the title. This squad will no doubt make the playoffs and doesn't need to rely on just one or two players to make an impact. And with the 18 game season, this team looks to be built for the long haul. But does Mark have enough point guards to run the show? Is his team actually too big? Is the rumor about Nowak having some sort of nagging injury actually true? Will Graham Coover ditch his co-ed volleyball team to make every game this year? Needless to say, Team D'Acquisto does have some questions surrounding it. But c'mon now, doesn't every team?
